MBA Innovation Summit
Friday, April 5, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
New York, NY
Depending on your background as a consumer or creator, everyone has their idea of what innovation actually is. A stride forward, one would say. A new product or process, says another. I'll know it when i see it, thinks a third. But what are the truths behind innovation that we can all agree on?
The MBA Innovation Summit is a humble attempt at marking the boundaries of the familiar, yet foreign concept of innovation. Jointly organized by students from the Yale School of Management, Wharton School of Business, and Columbia Business School, the MBAIS brings together leaders in the innovation industry, clients of innovation, and students of innovation to discover how it can change, disrupt, and be harnessed as a tool for creating value and impact, regardless of industry.
MBA Innovation Summit 2013 Agenda – April 5th, 2013
// Session 1 - Ideation: How do we generate ideas? (12:45)
In this interactive session, attendees will explore ideation through improvisation: ways to unleash creativity and generate ideas through the techniques of improv comedy. Get ready to get out of your comfort zone.
// Session 2 - Identification: How do we spot good ideas? (13:30)
A classic rule of brainstorming is that there are no bad ideas. So once we have an abundance of ideas, how do we know which ones are any good? This session will explore various methods used to assess the merit of an idea and whether this judgment comes from experience, logic, or intuition.
Participants: Continuum Innovation // Innosight // Jump // SYPartners // Sylvain Labs // Booz & Co.
// Session 3 - Implementation: How do we bring good ideas to life? (15:00)
Having a good idea is only half the battle; innovation requires execution. This fireside chat between an innovation consulting firm and client partner will showcase the challenges and rewards of transforming an early-stage concept into a full-fledged product or service.
Participants: Fahrenheit 212 // Catterton Partners // Nature’s Variety // Innovation Excellence (moderator)
// Session 4 - Failure: Why do some good ideas fail? (16:15)
Despite our best efforts, some good ideas fail. This session will engage consulting firms and corporate clients in a revolving dialogue on the nature and importance of failure in innovation, including frequent pitfalls and lessons for the future.
Participants: ?WhatIf! // Vivaldi Partners // Smart Design // Under Armour // Verizon // Weight Watchers
// Session 5 - Keynote Session: Ideation to Implementation (17:50)
